Privacy Policy — Crankotix

Last updated: May 2026

This Privacy Policy describes the policies and procedures of Jean-François Denniel (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of Your information when You use the mobile application Crankotix (“Service” or “Application”). This Policy explains Your privacy rights and how the law protects You.

✓ Zero data collection

Crankotix does not collect any personal data, usage data, or any information about You or Your device. All processing takes place locally on Your iPhone, in real time, during the compression test. Nothing leaves Your device.

By using the Service, You agree to the principles outlined in this Privacy Policy.

1. Interpretation and Definitions

1.1 Interpretation

The words of which the initial letter is capitalized have meanings defined under the following conditions. The following definitions shall have the same meaning regardless of whether they appear in singular or in plural.

1.2 Definitions

  • You: The individual accessing or using the Service, or the company, or other legal entity on behalf of which such individual is accessing or using the Service, as applicable.
  • Company: Refers to Jean-François Denniel, 97400 Saint-Denis, Réunion Island, France.
  • Application: The software program provided by the Company, named Crankotix, downloaded by You on any electronic device.
  • Service: Refers to the Application.
  • Device: Any device that can access the Service, such as an iPhone or iPad.
  • Personal Data: Any information that relates to an identified or identifiable individual.

2. Collecting and Using Your Personal Data

2.1 Types of Data Collected by the Company

The Company collects no Personal Data through the Application. Crankotix is designed to function entirely offline, without any data exchange with the Company.

2.2 Data Not Collected by Crankotix

The Application does not collect, store, or transmit any of the following:

  • Identity information (name, email, phone number, address)
  • Device information (model, serial number, IMEI, UDID)
  • Location data (GPS, IP-based, Wi-Fi triangulation)
  • Magnetometer recordings or signal data
  • Engine test results or compression measurements
  • Vehicle information (make, model, year, VIN)
  • Usage analytics (sessions, features used, time spent)
  • Biometric data (Face ID, Touch ID)
  • Contacts, photos, microphone, or camera access

2.3 Magnetometer Access

The Application requests access to Your iPhone’s magnetometer sensor for the sole purpose of performing real-time magnetic field signal processing during the compression test. The data captured by the magnetometer is:

  • Processed locally in memory only, on Your device
  • Used exclusively for the duration of the active test
  • Never stored on Your device after the test
  • Never transmitted to the Company or any third party

3. Payments

The Application uses Apple’s In-App Purchase system to manage purchases. The Company does not process, receive, or store any payment details, credit card information, or financial data.

Apple Inc. independently collects and processes data associated with Your Apple ID and Your In-App Purchase transactions. The Company has no access to this data. Apple acts as an independent data controller and its privacy practices are governed by Apple’s own Privacy Policy, available at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy.

4. Retention of Your Personal Data

Because the Company collects no Personal Data, there is no data retention applicable on the Company’s side. All processing performed by the Application is ephemeral, taking place only during the active test session in volatile memory of Your device.

5. Transfer of Your Personal Data

The Company does not transfer any Personal Data, as none is collected. Any data associated with Your Apple ID and In-App Purchase is handled directly by Apple and may be subject to international transfer in accordance with Apple’s privacy practices.

6. Disclosure of Your Personal Data

6.1 Business Transactions

If the Company is involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, no Personal Data will be transferred, as none is collected.

6.2 Law Enforcement

The Company holds no Personal Data that could be disclosed in response to legal requests. Any requests regarding Apple ID information or In-App Purchase transactions must be directed to Apple.

7. Security of Your Personal Data

Because no Personal Data is transmitted, stored, or processed by the Company, there is no data exposure risk from the Company’s side. All magnetometer signal processing happens within Your iPhone’s secure operating environment, managed by iOS.

8. Your Rights

8.1 General Statement

Because the Company holds no Personal Data, data subject rights — such as access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection — are not applicable to data held by the Company.

8.2 European Union (GDPR) and United Kingdom (UK GDPR)

If You are an EU or UK resident, Your data protection rights under GDPR and UK GDPR remain unaffected. For any data held by Apple, please contact Apple directly through https://privacy.apple.com.

8.3 California Residents (CCPA / CPRA)

If You are a California resident, You have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). However, because the Application does not collect any Personal Data, these rights are inherently limited in scope. The Company does not sell or share Personal Information.

8.4 Other Jurisdictions

Residents of other jurisdictions retain all data protection rights granted by their local laws. The absence of data collection by the Company means these rights have limited applicability to the Company.

9. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed to individuals under the age of 13. Because no Personal Data is collected, the Company does not knowingly collect data from children. The Application is intended for use by individuals with appropriate mechanical knowledge and is unsuitable for use by minors.

10. Changes to this Privacy Policy

The Company may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be effective immediately upon posting on this page. You are encouraged to review this Policy periodically for updates. Continued use of the Application after changes have been posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Privacy Policy.
